De Haleakala Day Journey is al meer dan 30 jaar een van de meest populaire fietstochten die Mountain Riders aanbiedt. De tour begint bij de ingang van Haleakala National Park en eindigt waar de fietstocht eindigt in Paia Town, aan de noordkust van het eiland! Onze rondleidingen worden uitgevoerd door onze ervaren gidsen, die u tijdens de reis op historische locaties wijzen en onvergetelijke foto-ops voor uw groep aanbieden.
Inchecken - 07.30 uur op de kantoorlocatie van Mountain Riders
Terugkeer - 23.30-12.00 uur terug naar de kantoorlocatie van Mountain Riders (tijden variëren afhankelijk van het seizoen).

This memorable bike ride was wonderful with incredible views of the entire island, including giant waves breaking on the north shore. It was a fast and fun cruise down the mountain, made even better by guide Joe's informative and humorous commentary.

This was an awesome experience! With Manny as our guide and Shane as our driver, we were guided up HaleakalÄ with lots of laughs and stories. Then we were guided safely down in a thrilling, but no pressure, coast/ride back to where we started the day. There is rarely a need to pedal, but you should still be in good condition and able to ride a bike.
On the way down, we stopped for about 45 minutes in the quaint town of Makawao in upcountry. We found a cute coffee shop called Vida and then noshed on a two-pound chocolate-peppermint-whiskey cookie from the Maui Cookie Lady. (You really gotta try these cookies!)
The bikes were heavy road bikes (rather than mountain/trail bikes), which made for a safe and smooth ride. Full helmets (and any other gear you needed or wanted) were provided. We made several slows and quick stops on the way down. Donât miss out on this amazing experience while youâre in Maui!

We never watched got to watch âthe Maui bike industryâs only safety videoâ and we never had to provide proof of insurance. We didnât have a âquick stopâ in Makawao - it was a 50 minute stop so the tour guide could have his lunch. Both of these points were stated on their website.
The guide talk about the volcano and rare plants and animals native to Hawaiian Islands was a bit skimpy. He did tell us about all the âwildâ chickens and how dangerous they are as they are let loose from illegal cock fighting. Iâm not sure they are indigenous to Hawaii. Breathtaking views? We were told to keep our eyes on the road looking straight ahead. If we turned our heads to look at the views we might crash!
The bikes were very road worthy with great brakes and comfortable seats. And overall the bike ride portion was enjoyable.
We purchased our tour from the cruise ship and paid $189.95, not a cheap tour. The same excursion could have been purchased directly from the company for $109 online. Number 11 on their rule sheet had tipping suggestion of 15 - 20%. And we were told by our guide that they depend on their tips and that they âknow what we all paid, and so we should be tipping $30 eachâ!!! We didnât have $60 US cash on us and we couldnât use our credit card for the tip, but we did have $20 cash and were planning to tip them this, but I was so offended by his assertion that we were expected to tip so they got nothing! Besides, Iâm not sure it was worth $219.95 (with tip).
