Useful and very good lessons for beginners though it was not easy for first time. Convenient location
Very good location in Kihei. Beach is easily accessible and the waves are perfect for beginners. Always felt safe and in control in this location. I've surfed one other time 15 years ago and this 2 hour lesson quickly brought it back to me. Sarge was a very helpful instructor.
Surf Club Maui is a really great group of people! Nico instructed our teen son on the first day and he was up and surfing in a few tries. He was also able to jump 180 on the board before the end. That encouraged my husband and I to try the next day. The Amazing Turtle taught all three of us. Our son was doing even more fancy moves on his board! Surfing was the highlight of his trip! And my husband and I had several good runs. A great experience. It really helps to learn surfing with instructors like these who can keep you safe and help you with the timing of the wave so you have the best success. The entire group from the Surf Club Maui is very enjoyable. They engage in conversation. They are quite competent instructors and really enjoy surfing and teaching. And they love Maui and enjoy talking about it. They come from many different nationalities but share Maui and surfing as their passion. The base rate for the lesson is really inexpensive. Plan to give a nice tip to the instructor. The photos are really the only keepsake. Plan to buy a few or a package.
Our instructor was Sergeant. Solid instructor, we were able to catch some waves and had a great time. All in all a great first time surfing experience.

This was our first time to surf and the whole experience was beyond our expectations. Our instructor, Super Tortuga, is a great teacher and communicator, with an abundance of patience. We had a variety of physical skill level in our group and he was able to get us all to novice level surfers in the 2 hour session. Kai helped us document the event with great photos capturing our advancing skills from fun blooper shots to ‘live action’ shots on the boards as proof we did it! Highly recommend This event, the instructor and photo options. The location at Kalama beach park was ideal to learn and hone our new skills.
