When I first saw a promo for underwater scooters, I immediately wanted to try one out. I’m an experienced snorkeler over 70, and was excited about the prospect of being able to cover more water and feel comfortable navigating the tight underwater spaces from both natural and manmade obstacles. I signed up for the My Splash Snorkeling adventure and was not disappointed. The adventure was billed as a 1-hour experience, which I thought would work out to 30-40 minutes using the scooters. However, Scott gave us a full hour on the scooters. Scott runs a first-class operation. He provides snorkeling gear (or bring your own) and an introduction to snorkeling for newbies. Flotations aids were offered to those interested. Once in the water, he led us through the man-made reef from the old collapsed wharf at the north end of Lahaina, and then out to the open ocean. I have never seen so many turtles combined in any other week of snorkeling. The trip's highlight was leading us to the resting place of many white-tip reef sharks. These nocturnal sharks could be clearly seen resting under the debris of the collapsed wharf. The one concern I had before the trip is if the noise of the scooters would affect the behavior of the sea life. Fortunately, they all seemed oblivious to our group of snorkelers using scooters. I highly recommend this adventure.
Nice experience and nice stuff. If you go to Maui, this is a must. We spent an hour and half snorkeling but we couldn’t see any sea turtle..maybe it was their holiday or weekend.
What a fun morning! The sea scooters got us easily through the waves and out to turtle town quickly. There were dozens of turtles, a couple of reef sharks, an eel, and a variety of other fish. Scott was a great guide. He is also a photographer, and we love the video he made of our trip. Highly recommend!
We’ve snorkeled many times before but never with a sea scooter. I was a little nervous about them but they were very easy to use. All equipment and wet suit tops were very clean and well maintained. And best of all we saw tons of turtles. We would have been happy seeing a few but we saw at least 40-50. And they swam right under and next to you. Also saw fish, an eel and a white tip shark. Very cool experience. Highlight of our Maui trip.
This was the best snorkel experience we’ve ever had! The location was amazing; we saw tons of turtles, all kinds of fish and even a couple reef sharks! We went back on our own after and saw a giant eel and an octopus too! Scott is awesome! He called us before to make sure we knew where to go, made the coolest snorkel video for us and even rescued my girlfriend’s necklace from the bottom of the ocean. The scooters are really fun too!
This was SO much fun!! The guides, sea scooters and views were all amazing!! We saw lots of turtles, cool fish and had an overall great time in the water! Dave and Allie were great and made us all feel comfortable from the very start. The Sea Scooters were awesome and were so much fun to use! We go to Maui a lot and this will be on our list moving forward! I have never snorkeled before and after 2 mins in the water I was good to go and felt very calm and relaxed with the Dave and Allie by my side. THIS IS A MUST DO!!
