. My K9 surfing partner Church & I are blessed to have been born and raised in this paradise named Maui. Growing up here we spent more than a fair share of that time in the ocean. What makes us the uniquely ultimate surfing duo is that besides being a competitive surfer myself, Church is trained and certified as both a therapy dog as well as an emotional service animal. There's a lot of places to learn how to surf here on Maui, but only one that let's you have bragging rights about a dog teaching the lesson. Year late but still great memories

While this post is a year late. I tried surfing for the first time with James and Church last minute one Sunday. It was a blast. James was awesome about reaching out when Church had an injury and he wasn't sure if he would be able to go out with us since I had book surf with a dog. However as soon as Church saw we were going surfing he was right as rain and came out with us. James himself was very patient with me and had me riding waves once I got out of my head. Can't recommend James enough!

Fantastic morning with James and Church, first time surfing and a day we will never forget! I lost count of how many times my daughter rode the waves in with Church and on her own, she can't stop talking about it.

We absolutely LOVED this experience and cannot recommend it enough. James is super friendly and patient with the kids (and the nervous mom) and Church just makes everything more fun. He is a total pro and the kids loved riding with him - and then playing fetch with him.
If you have an a younger one hesitant to surf, Church is the ultimate ice breaker. He was so excited to get out on the water and our “nervous one” followed him right in. We all were able to stand up and catch a few waves … definitely a highlight of the trip!

Surfing with James and Church was awesome! It’s truly an one on one surfing lesson. We went to an area popular for other beginner surfers and surf schools, but having the private lesson made the experience so much better. James was able to give us direct attention and give us specific tips to help after each wave. Surfing with Church was so much fun too! He is a local celebrity! Having Church in the front of the board made me feel so much more comfortable and confident. This was an unforgettable experience!

If you are in Maui surfing with Church is a must! James and Church make surfing easy. You can tell how much Church loves to be in the water surfing and swimming. Church is definitely a Kihei celebrity. They are an impressive duo! This was the highlight of our trip!!
