Escape from the crowded tourist areas for a private, 90-minute surf lesson for a group of 3-to-5 people near Lahaina, Maui. Choose from an early-, mid-, or late-morning time frame. This surf session will focus on water safety, proper surf technique, surfing style, and etiquette. The experienced, professional instructor guarantees students will stand up, catch a wave, and leave the beach as a certified surfer. This is our first time surf and we all enjoyed the time. Our instructor Anne-Marie is amazing. We all learned the techniques form her and kids were doing great on the wave. This is definitely a great activity we enjoyed the most in Maui.

Our instructor Kyler was so patient and thorough with all three of our children. He was able to successfully teach all three kids to get up and ride the boards. Our youngest lost his glasses and Kyler called us several hours later and told us he had found them in the surf. He waited for us to meet him for 20 minutes to retrieve them. Excellent experience all around!

We were first time surfers- we had never surfed before. My husband and I took our three girls ages 10, 10, and 8. We were nervous but Jason was very informative, a very good teacher and helped us learn. He was great and very patient with us. We all got up on the board and surfed many waves. We weren’t sure what we were signing ourselves up for, but we couldn’t be happier that we did this experience while in Maui. Such a wonderful life experience! We all had the best time! The kids are hooked now!

We had a great instructor. None of us had ever surfed before and were all able to ride at least one wave. Most of us rode multiple waves in the first 20 minutes of the lesson. It would be better if I was in better shape. Lol. Anyways, great experience.

Sharky was great for beginner surfers!

My three kids (21, 19 and 16) have never surfed before, took a private group lesson from Sharky and rode multiple waves! He did a great job teaching and practicing the basics of getting up before they went into the water, and he was out there with them giving feedback while they surfed.
Sharky did a nice job communicating with me the day before, explaining where to meet him (he changed the location at the last minute due to wave conditions). He even put a beach chair on top of his car so we could easily spot him!
The lesson was 1:30 long and I was initially worried that it going to be too short, but that was plenty of time! All 3 kids were exhausted from the paddling (and they are all in pretty good shape!) and were ready to call it a day at the end. Though none of them really wanted to try surfing again this trip, all were glad they had experienced it and have a new appreciation for how hard it is!
