Private - Beginner Paddleboarding 101 Lesson - Makena Landing - Turtle Town!

Never ever paddleboarded before? Â This is for you! This is our Beginner Class. This is a private activity so just you, your Private Group and your Guide/Guides.
You’ll start out with a brief lesson on the shore. Then you will be helped into the ocean. Remember, your guides are there every step of the way. Next is a quick review of the shore lesson on the water, then you will be stand up paddleboarding in the heart of "Turtle Town" on the pristine coastline of Wailea-Makena! Time to soak up some sunshine, see the ocean wildlife and enjoy!
Also enjoy a fresh fruit ocean picnic while checking out Haleakala Crater from the ocean.  Doin’ it Maui Style!

We had the best time with Lowe paddle boarding for our first time ever! It was our honeymoon and second to last day in Maui. We did just about everything we could on the island and figured we should enjoy a special activity. Boy were we in for a treat!! We thought, how could our trip get any better? And it absolutely could- and it did!! Lowe was so knowledgeable of the island, gave great instructions, recommendations, and shared stories with us. She took great amazing photo shots of us on the water and in the water with turtles and fishes! Since it was our first time paddle boarding, I was a little nervous of how strenuous the activity could be, but it really was easy (with her excellent guidance) and so much fun! The area we got to explore was so scenic and the vibes were awesome. This was by far our favorite activity. We highly recommend 10/10

Peg is simply amazing’. Great instruction. Never thought I would be able to go from sitting to standing in the ocean!! I am 53 with a bad knee and had no intention. Of standing as did not think it was possible with my limited range of motion. Great time. Highly recommend!!

Booking was super easy. Two days before, my wife stepped on a sea urchin and we reached out to Peg and she offered to reschedule if my wife wasn't feeling better. Peg assured us that there were other ways to paddle if my wife need to take a break. So we kept to the scheduled date and we are so glad that we did!!!
The morning started off with us easily meeting up with Cole. He started with a thorough SUP 101 on land and we were off to launch from Makena Landing. I found it easy to launch and found it challenging to stand because I am used to standing sideways as a surfer. My wife on the other hand was a natural. She was had such an amazing time and her foot did not bother her at all because she was having so much fun. We saw so many whales including a couple of babies breaching out of the water.
Overall, we would definitely recommend that anyone considering the "Paddleboard - Private “Whale” of a Whale Watch" tour not hesitate and reserve a time with Paddle Out Maui Tours.
PS - Cole took amazing photos that we uploaded along with this review that we decided to order after we completed the tour.

Great intro to SUP

Thank you to Peg and her great guides for helping us feel safe and looked after as almost all of our group tried SUP for the first time. And the amazing pictures they took made me look way more adventurous than I am IRL. A turtle sighting and a chance to hold some sea urchin were a nice bonus.
The location is really close if you're in Wailea (like 5 minutes from the big hotels), but from Kaanapali it was about 40 minutes early in the morning. The landing is really packed (mostly with kayakers) but they got us in and out of the water safely. I actually started to get seasick at one point sitting on the board (happens easily to me) because the waves were a bit rough and they helped me get to shore a little early.

A great experience, Cole and Jojo were very good at explaining what to do and what to expect. We ranged in age from 74 to 9 years and they were very concerned about our safety and made it a lot of fun. We all were able to get up on the boards!!! Both Cole and Jojo were professional and very amusing.
