Learn to scuba dive during your Maui vacation with Banyan Tree Divers Maui! Our mobile dive shop is owned and operated by PADI instructors who each have over 10 years of professional teaching experience. We focus on your safety and comfort with small group sizes. If you want the one-on-one attention you deserve, then you have found the Lahaina dive shop for you. We provide all of our guests with personalized attention, and when possible, private diving.
PLEASE READ: You MUST be able to swim to complete the Introductory Dive. This means that each student can swim unassisted in the ocean. Our Private Dive is REQUIRED for less comfortable swimmers, available in a separate listing. Misrepresentation of your swimming ability will lead to removal from the experience and NO REFUND.

We encourage our guests to bring their own reusable water bottles so that we can reduce our plastic waste.
- CHILD: : 10 - 12
- YOUTH: : 13 - 17
- ADULT: : 18 - 65
- Basic swimming ability is recommended
- Gear/equipment sanitised between use
- Guests should be able to carry a minimum of 30lbs for a short distance
- Hand sanitiser available to travellers and staff
- Must be able to answer NO to each question on the Medical Statement. A YES answer requires a doctor clearance. Failure to secure a doctor clearance when needed forfeits the ability to dive and the right to a refund. Please contact Banyan Tree Divers ahead
- Not recommended for travelers with asthma or sinus medical conditions
- Not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries
- Transportation not included. Please let us know if you will not have a rental car.
- While scuba diving involves minimal physical contact with guests, your immediate safety is our first priority. Thus, we are unable to promise consistent social distancing during your dive experience. All gear is sanitized before and after use.
- After diving you must wait 18 hours to fly or ascend to 1,000 feet or more
- Contactless payments for gratuities and add-ons
- Guests must be proficient at swimming in order to complete this activity. If you show up for diving and cannot swim, you forfeit your participation in the experience as well as your right to a refund.
- Guides required to regularly wash hands
- Minimum age to participate is 10
- Not recommended for pregnant travelers
- Not recommended for travelers with poor cardiovascular health
- Proficient SWIMMING ABILITY IS REQUIRED. This means that each student must be able to swim unassisted in the ocean.
- Travelers should have at least a moderate level of physical fitness
For a full refund, cancel at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure time.
- For a full refund, you must cancel at least 24 hours before the experience’s start time.
- If you cancel less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.
- Experience may be cancelled due to Insufficient travelers
- This experience requires good weather. If it’s canceled due to poor weather, you’ll be offered a different date or a full refund.

Our dive Coach Shane was the most amazing coach possible. He was patient, supportive, informative, clear and concise, knowledgeable, and pleasant. On-time and ready. He was well prepared and described exactly what was going to happen, how and when and made sure we could perform all procedures and was able to follow through. He covered what would happen if there was an emergency, made sure we knew what to do and that we could do what was needed. Thanks to Him we were able to start a new chapter in our lives and we can’t wait to go again.

Michael was great and very attentive. He was very patient and great with me and my husband. Definitely recommend if on Maui it was worth the trip. We did 2 dives unfortunate no turtles but still had a blast.

What an experience! Michael was an absolute amazing instructor! He talked through everything and educated us on it all. Definitely recommend going for the second dive if you enjoy the first one; what a surreal experience that everyone should try. It’s a whole different world under the water that you just can’t capture snorkeling above it!

Abby was the perfect instructor. She made us very comfortable and was very clear with all of her directions. We saw so many TURTLES!!! and a reef shark. Absolutely the highlight of our trip. I am a recent breast cancer survivor and struggled with the weight of the tank and getting out of the water. She was so awesome and floated my tank in and out for me so I could participate on the second dive. Mahalo!

We had a great time. It was my first time scuba diving and our guide Jen was very patient. She was a great teacher. Would highly recommend going on the second dive. We explored a reef growing near an abandoned pier and swam with sea turtles. Great experience for any beginner.

We had such an amazing time with Banyan Tree Divers Maui! We did an intro to scuba dive with Abby and I don't think we could have had a better instructor. Not only did she do a great job of helping our kids have an amazing first dive through her helpful instruction and guidance, but she was so amazing with my wife, who was a little nervous about the dive. She was the perfect mix of knowledgeable, supportive, and encouraging! We saw beautiful fish and coral and loved getting to see turtles! I would whole-heartedly recommend both Abby and Banyan Tree Divers Maui for diving in Maui!

This was my 13 year old daughter’s first time diving. Mike was a fantastic teacher and dive leader who made it comfortable and fun. The two dives we did were amazing. I’d highly recommend Banyan Tree Diving.

The scuba instructor was great and very informative! It was my 2nd dive and my husbands first. The scuba instructor gave us a good run down of how everything works. Their gear was updated and comfortable.
The dive was awesome, saw a ton of fish, the reefs and even a large male turtle. Overall a great experience!

I had an unforgettable experience with my instructor Jen! It was my very first time scuba diving and I had a bit of trouble getting used to breathing underwater at first and had a mini panic attack. Jen was very patient and attentive and most of all very encouraging and empathetic. I was able to overcome my fear and anxiety and had two wonderful dives! She took me to see sharks (I mentioned I was sad I didn’t get to see the sharks during my snorkelling tour a few days before while others saw them) and sea turtles and octopus, we also saw trumpetfish and frogfish too :))) Jen was so personable and sweet, she even gave me a personal recommendation for best poke in town too (it was delicious!). I was able to rinse off at the headquarter and bought myself a tank top for a souvenir so I can always remember and carry this wonderful experience with me.

We could not have had a better experience! Shane was a fantastic instructor and guide. As this was our first time diving, we were a bit nervous. Shane took the time to explain the gear, its functionality, and the physics behind diving/buoyancy which made a huge difference once we were in the water. The first dive was a great learning experience where we practiced our movement in the water while exploring shallow reefs. If you have the time, the second dive is an absolute must! It is deeper and more challenging, but the views are incredible. I lost count after a dozen turles, and we even saw a pair of white tip reef sharks. 110% recommend!

My instructor Abby is awesome! She not only listens well and answers all my questions and concerns but also observes when I get stressed at anytime to signal me to apply skills at a super supportive and chilled way. She shows us all the amazing views underwater like a real tour guide. Generously shares her knowledge with the use of camera, the diving gears care and more. She is also a great underwater photographer. You will not regret to book an underwater tour with her. She is simply the best!
Turtles Galore

I am an experienced diver and this was my son's first dive. We both had a wonderful time. Jen gave us both a quick scuba lesson (including hand signals for what we will be seeing) and took us to a gem of a location for shore dives. There was an abundance of fish and turtles. This is the first time I saw a "turtle cleaning station" and was wonderful.

My friend and I decided while on our vacation we wanted to go scuba diving. As this was my first time (and only her second) we decided that an intro would be best for both of us. When we arrived we were the only ones in our group that day and met our instructor Jen. She was an amazing teacher and very kind. After our first dive we loved it so much we decided to pay the extra money to go on the second one. The wildlife was absolutely stunning. Honestly the second dive is so worth it and you get to see so much more. This ended up being the best part of our trip and we loved going scuba diving so much we now are wanting to get certified. Thank you for such an amazing experience! Jen was absolutely amazing!

Instructor was easygoing and made you feel that this was going to be no problem to do. The class section was just the right length and informative without scaring you with all the things you should worry about. The dive site was really pretty.
